Hi there, Im having a little problem with a question on complex numbers.
What exactly does Y = {Re(z) < 1} mean? This is all z belonging to complex numbers btw, I just couldnt find the symbol...I know that Y represents the set, but I just dont know what that set defines (Doh)
Any help would be great, thanks
If z=x+iy Re(z)=x so Y is set of all z with x<1
It should probably say Y = {z | Re(z) < 1}.Quote:

So does that mean the modulus is less than 1?
No, modulus of z= sqrt(x^2+y^2)
I think you'll find that should actually be a dotted vertical line, not a solid vertical line...Quote:
