Hiya http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/imag...lies/smile.gif

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I'm trying to multiply a point in an elliptic curve group.

The curve is http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/late...48821b4ded.png over http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/late...a866f75765.png. As an example, I'll use http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/late...704ea75fc2.png - this point is indeed in the elliptic group.

I believe the rule for multiplication in this case is that: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/late...e49e26b269.png is given by:

where http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/late...64109d2ed0.png

So by my working out.. http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/late...c2b8eb6793.png

I'm not sure how to get any further with this. The answer here is that http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/late...868100eef9.png therefore http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/late...18718e7746.png.

But I have no idea why http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/late...1b14f2d3fb.png

Can anyone help?

Thanks for any suggestions! http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/imag...lies/smile.gif
