Math Help - Divison Algorithm

    Divison Algorithm

    I am attending a different school for the summer and the professor teaching Number Theory isn't qualified to teach addition in 2nd grade.

    How would you set up -243/25 in the form of a=qd+r. She told us that q has to be positive but when I found it on wikipedia, an example let q be negative.

    Well since  0\leq r<|d| , if  a<0 and  d>0 (like your case), then  q<0 .
