    Indicies

    Hi everyone.

    I know this may seem a little basic for university study, but we are currently doing revison and i'm stuck on this question

    Simplify the expression 3^x+y-15^y/3^y-2

    Do you mean, \frac{3^{x}+y-15^{y}}{3^{y}-2}

    yes, but it is 3 to the power of 3^(x+y)

    About the only thing I can think of is this:

    \frac{3^{x+y} - 15^y}{3^y - 2} = \frac{3^y(3^x - 5^y)}{3^y - 2}
