1. ## Sketch Cross Product

A current-carrying filament is subjected to a strong magnetic field within an experimental chamber. It is required to find the force on the filament. The current may be modelled in three-dimensional space as:
𝐼=2𝑖+3𝑗−4𝑘
and the magnetic field as:
𝐵=3𝑖−2𝑗+6𝑘

Find the Cross Product of these two vectors to ascertain the characteristics of the force on the filament (i.e. find I x B).
Sketch this Cross Product (or use software to do so).

I have fond the cross product I x B = 10i - 24j + -13k

How do I sketch this or input into a software

2. ## Re: Sketch Cross Product

Do you know how to draw a single vector in an xyz- coordinate system?

3. ## Re: Sketch Cross Product

No I have never been shown and do not seem to be able to find the right path I realise using the fingers one horizontal one vertical and the other at an angle

4. ## Re: Sketch Cross Product

To plot the vector $ai + bj + ck$, draw a 3D $xyz$ coordinate system. Then plot the point $(a,b,c)$ on it. Finally draw a straight line from the origin $(0,0,0)$ to your point $(a,b,c)$ and put an arrowhead on that end. I have attached a picture illustrating this with the vector $1i + 2j + 3k$. Click the picture to enlarge it.

Walagaster I think I have cracked it with your help
