Hello All, I'm a former HS physics teacher deciding to pursue advanced degree

Hello my name is Bryan. I have a background in physics and after some highs and lows of trying to teach physics in high school I have decided to go back to graduate school, for physics in hopes of earning PhD. Consequentially I am using my down time to prep myself and have been studying among other things advanced algebra as it is useful in group theory. Sometimes I get stuck and don't have anyone to help me so I hope we can exchange ideas on here.

What an adventure trying to teach high school kids physics. I guess it is a classical case of being brilliant but not being able to transmit it (in the words of the students). Well, when life gives you lemons you make lemonade and I am really enjoying teaching myself group theory, general relativity, vol. III of the Feynman lectures, etc. So, I hope to discuss more with you all.
