If you use windows, MathType is what I use.
Does anyone have any tips on mathematical typing? Is there a program or a list of keyboard short cuts for mathematical symbols? There are a lot of fancy mathematical symbols floating around here and I'm getting a bit jealous...

Hi Convrgx and Plato,
In the paste I always used MathType when I was writing formal documents in microsoft programs such as 'word' as well but
on the forum I mostly use Latex.
At home I downloaded Texmaker and use that. There are lots of video lessons on you tube. This is just the first one of a series that I learned from.
Unfortunately you can't just copy your latex programs and paste them in this forum, however, there is a simplified version of it that you can use directly from this site. I wrote this integral directly on this forum. (You don't need to download anything for that)
If you want to see how I wrote this click on the 'reply with quote' button at the bottom of this page.
Initially I just learned from copying. I still do a lot of the time.
I hope that helps.

You are welcome.
Another program that you may like to download is GeoGebra
I don't know how to use it very well yet but you can use it for drawing all sorts of geometry things.
It also ties in with LaTex. You can get it to display your writing in Latex and I think you can also get the drawings converted to Latex programming (I haven't done this yet)
Just like with Latex i believe there are a lot of you tube clips etc to help you learn. I haven't taken time out to look at these yet. I've been learning with trial and error. (My method is probably not the smartest one).
There are so many things to learn and not enough hours in a day!!
Anyway good luck and have fun!
While I am at it I will tell you that the best graphing program I have ever used is Desmos
It is brilliant. I love it.
And the best calculator is Wolfram|Alpha
