I came here to get help on my math because I struggle with word problems
I want to succeed in my math class and I came here to get help with problems, especially word problems.

I have been trying to work on this problem all day and I cannot get it right and the textbook does not explain how to do it, please help me try to solve it.

If the temperature is constant, then the atmospheric pressure P (in pounds/square inch) varies with the altitude above sea level h (in feet) in accordance with the law given below where p0 is the atmospheric pressure at sea level and k is a constant.

P = p0e^-kh

If the atmospheric pressure is 14.7 lb/in^2 at sea level and 13 lb/in^2 at 4000 ft, find the atmospheric pressure at an altitude of 14,000 ft. (Round your answer to two decimal places.)

Have you tried substituting the numbers for known pressures into the equation? What did you get?

Some remarks about typesetting. In plain text, you can indicate subscript with _, e.g., p_0. Next, e^-kh = (e^-k)h because exponentiation has a higher priority than multiplication. In plain text, write e^(-kh). However, it is better to use LaTeX. To get

$P=p_0e^{-kh}$

write [tex]P=p_0e^{-kh}[/tex] (subscripts and superscripts are surrounded by curly braces unless they consist of one symbol).

well you have p0 = 14.7 lb/in^2 and you can find "k"
by putting h=4000 ft and P= 13 lb/in^2.
After you have "p0" and "k" you can find "P" for any "h"

Wow thank you guys your suggestions really helped me a lot, I tried to ask for help on yahoo answers and no response. Word problems are very hard for me as I said, I hope I don't get any more of them. Thank you again, I greatly appreciate the help :)
