    Vectors

    Can anyone please help me to solve this equation
    (alpha)x + a x = b
    Here a , b and x are vectors and alpha is a scalar

    I need a solution for x

    Take the scalar multiple of your equation, (call it eq(1)), with \underline{a}, and note that the triple scalar product is zero. Call this eq(2).

    Take the vector multiple of eq(1) with \underline{a}, expand the triple vector product and substitute using eq(2). Call this eq(3).

    Eliminate the vector product between eq's (1) and (3), and solve for \underline{x}.
