    Find the minimum distance from the parabola

    you should post in the appropriate thread first,

    and the formula for distance is \sqrt{{(x_2 - x_1)}^{2} + {(y_2 - y_1)}^{2}}, you already have the values for x_2 ,  y_2,

    you just have to play a little bit with your initial formula to get x_1 and y_1,
