Need help with price calculation
I have a Retail Price of $165 and give a discount of 66.67% to get a Wholesale Price of$55.
The question is...
How do I calculate the Retail Price
if I am just given the Wholesale Price of $55 and know that the Retail Price x with a discount of 66.67% =$55 (rounded up)
Thanks

Re: Need help with price calculation
In words 'from the retail price subtract two thirds of the retail price to get the wholesale price of \$55'

In math symbols

$x - \frac{2x}{3} = 55$

Now solve for x (the retail price)

Re: Need help with price calculation
Thanks agentmulder,
but I need the result to be the retail price =x not the wholesale price =55
I need a calculation that I can use in Excel where -- Example numbers in ()
x is retail price (165)
y is a discount percentage (66%)
z is wholesale price (55)

Re: Need help with price calculation
$x - \frac{xy}{100} = z$

or

$x(1 -\frac{y}{100}) = z$

or

$x = \frac{100z}{100 - y}$

Is it the last one you need? We get that by solving for x in the top one.
