Overcoming the dread of maths
Hey there folks,
I would really appreciate some advice. I'm in the position of studying mathematics at university, having been away from the subject for about 5 or 6 years. I'm in my second year of doing maths, and I feel like I'm watching a movie without subtitles or sound. I'm presented with all the topics, and notation ... but, none of it is really forming a "story" or "big picture" in my head. I can work through exercises, but, I don't really understand what it is I'm even achieving by getting an answer.
Where does a journey of mathematics need to begin, if I really want to understand a discipline which is alluding me?
I'm guessing stepping back to the "pre-" sections might be sensible.
Regards,
Chris

My advice would be, anytime you feel like you intuitively don't understand something, ask for help here, you will get posts giving you many different interpretations, and perhaps you can start seeing the big picture after a while.
