Help with linear indepence/dependence

Hi everyone,

I have the set {(0,1,1),(1,0,1)(-1,1,0)}

is this a linearly independent or dependent set?

After playing about with it I think it is dependent as I cannot get it equal to zero. However, I might be wrong (Nod)

How is it dependent if you can't get a linear combination that is equal to zero?

Have you tried subtracting the third vector from the first one?

Calculate the determinant with rows equal to vectors. If = 0, dependent, otherwise independent
