A number is to be selected at random from the interval [ 6.5, 9.7]. What is the probability that the number selected will be the interval [6.5, 7.3]. Can someone help me set up and solve this problem?

This is a uniform distribution.

I think you have left the word in.

The probability is the measure of the subset divided by the measure of the superset.

Please post your answer.

thank you. I am confused as to how I set that up. Do I divide 9.7 by 7.3?

Reread my reply. It tells you that $\frac{7.3-6.5}{9.7-6.5}$ is the answer.
