I guys, I would ve greatfull if you could help me put this formula into simple words
if x ≤ y and 1/08/2010 ≤ y ≤ 31/07/2011 or x > y and 1/08/2010 ≤ x ≤ 31/07/2011.
Your help is much appreciated.
Thank you
Hello, paul2311!
I see no need for the "if".
I would be grateful if you could help me put this formula into simple words
. . .$\displaystyle \begin{array}{c}x \le y\text{ and }1/08/2010 \le y \le 31/07/2011\\ \text{or} \\ x > y\text{ and }1/08/2010 \le x \le 31/07/2011 \end{array}$
$\displaystyle \begin{array}{c}x\text{ precedes or equals }y \\\text{and}\\ y\text{ is among the dates} \\ \text{Aug. 1, 2010 to July 31, 2011} \\ \\ \text{or} \\ \\ x\text{ succeeds }y\\ \text{and} \\ x\text{ is among the dates} \\ \text{Aug. 1, 2010 to July 31, 2011} \end{array}$
Hello, paul2311!
Could I in this instance read it as follows?
X proceeds or equals y and y between Aug 1 2010 and July 2011
Or
X succeeds y and x between Aug 1 2010 and July 2011
Thank you.
I would be careful with the word "between".
Some may assume that it means literally between,
. . not including the end dates.
