help needed with internet speeds

Hi wonder if anyone can help me I've not dealt with maths since leaving school some years ago now I'm 42 and returning to University. Well hear goes

1 express 124 kb to 3 significant numbers

2 Calculate the time it takes to download the 124 KB file over (A) a 33.08 Mbps connection and (B) a 11.98 Mbps connection.(Thinking)

Re: help needed with internet speeds

Kb = kilobyte, which means 1000 * byte, so 124 kb = 124 * 1000 = 124,000 bytes

and similarly Mb = 1,000,000 Bytes, 124 Kb = 124,000 bytes.

Mbps = Mb per second, so 1,000,000 bytes per second. So 33 Mbps is 33, 000, 000 bytes per second.

you should be able to calculate this out yourself from this point.
