1. ## Hi!! please need help putting formula's on graphs..

Hi there!!!

I am in need of some urgent help... if anyone would be so kind as to help me i would soooo appreciate it!!

I'm a homeschooled missionary in Mozambique, and have exams coming up next week, and i need to understand this one problem, but i can't!! Here it is:

How do i put the formulae P=50 + 2T and P=20 + 3T on a axis graph? i have axis Y and axis X.

If i must explain any further, i so would appreciate any help!!

THANK YOU!!

You should either have Y = 50 + 2X with axes Y and X or P = 50 + 2T with axes P and T. Assuming the latter, choose some values of the independent variable, i.e., T, and compute the corresponding values of the dependent variable, i.e., P. E.g., for T = 1 you get P = 50 + 2 * 1 = 50 + 2 = 52. Then plot the resulting pairs (T, P) on the graph and connect them. As it turns out, the graph of P = 50 + 2T is a straight line, so it is sufficient to find two points. Choose any T1, T2, compute P1 = 50 + 2 * T1, P2 = 50 + 2 * T2, plot (P1, T1) and (P2, T2) and connect them.

Use P as your dependent variable (Y) and T as your independent variable (X). Then your first equation has a P (Y) intercept of 50 and gradient 2, and the second equation has P (Y) intercept of 20 and gradient of 3.

Does that help?

I figured it out! i sooo appreciate your all's help here!!

Note that those are linear equations and lines are determined by two points. Find two (x, y) pairs satisfying each equation, plot those points, and draw a line through those points. For example if x= 0 and y= 50+ 2x, then y= 50+ 2(0)= 50 so one point is (0, 50). y= 0, the 0= 50+ 2x, 2x= -50, and x= -25. Another point is (-25, 0). Mark those points on the axes and draw the line through them.
