Thread: using power of numbers

Hi all,
Sometimes one forgets how to use concepts of math , as I. A simple equation,one unknown.
1.1 to what power =2.
How do I find the exponent value? 1.1^x=2 (solve for x)

I would use the logarithm: log(1.1^x)= x log(1.1)= log(2). Now divide both sides by log(1.1).
