    math competition

    The International Math Olympiad has begun in Madrid. For those interested here is a link with a little info:

    The Competition Begins


    Also, MathFest begins in Madison, Wis. at the end of the month. Is anyone going?.

    I would go if it was in New York City. Are there any math events in New York?

    Just Google MathFest. It's sponsored by the MAA.

    As for events in NYC. I don't think there are any in what remains of July.

    Google something would probably be the best find to find out if there is anything upcoming.

    I think Russia is the only team to get 6 gold medals.
    However, IMO is scored on collective scores (as opposed to the real Olympics which are measured by gold medals first).
    Therefore, China wins this year with 5 gold and 1 silver. (Last year it was Russia, I was hoping for Russia to win again this year).
