I fold. It's an impossible achievement to make it on your own. I'm still stubborn but I'm going to listen to others from now on.

Over the years, I've learnt that in any field of academic study - mathematics being a prime example - everyone has a limit to their 'processing power' that they cannot exceed - no matter how hard they try and no matter how strong the desire is to do so. But that does not mean that you can't try to push the boat out just a little further - just don't be disappointed or mad at yourself it you get stuck or if things have gone beyond your comprehension. As I said earlier, every man has got to know his own limitations. But moreover, maths is for fun - or should be - just make every effort to keep it fun - and not drudgery - for yourself .

Ok thanks. I just feel like I have to take on this attitude because I lack the financial background to achieve Phd status; I'm a peasant. But I've found an alternative route to success. I'm going to devote my time to maths in order to pass a GCHQ test and enter the game that way.

At that place, an ability with advanced math. will be useful. But I think you'll find that an advanced ability with software (apps. & comms.) will have the greatest demand. Just don't ask me how I know that . . .

Yes, that's exactly what I'm thinking; that demand is what will draw me away from my initial intentions, i.e., maths! But it will pay my way in life to some degree. My dream job? Someone to pay me to do my plus and minuss'. In this day and age that is not going to happen.
