I have 2 math problems and have no idea how to solve them:

#1. Bernadette's math test has 14 sections. Each section has either 8 or 12 problems. How many sections are there of each size if the test is 132 problems long?

#2. A moving truck rental company has a total of 24 trucks in its lot. The trucks are either 4-wheelers or 18-wheelers. How many of each kind of truck does the company have if the total number of wheels is 138?

I need to show the work. Thanks so much for any help that you can provide.

not any magic to these

1) let there be N 8 problem sections and M 12 problem sections

How many total sections are there?

So what does N + M equal?

How many problems are in the N 8 problem sections total?
How many problems are in the M 12 problem sections total?

The sum of these two numbers is the total number of problems, i.e. 132.

Now solve these two equations for N and M

For (2) apply the same sort of thinking as in (1)
