Ideas to get into a good university

Hi MHF.

I'm finishing high school now in December and I want to apply to some universities abroad (Canada to be specific).

In the united states and Canada, do you learn calculus through integral calculus, with subjects such as optimization, graph analysis and all that in high school? I seem to get conflicting evidence on this one.

Also, does anyone have any tips to get into a good university? It would be a dream to get into Uni. of British Columbia but I'm not getting my hopes up. I do want, however, to show the university that I apply to exactly how proficient I am at mathematics, not just what the grades display, since I know mathematics a lot better than all of my peers who are getting the same grades.

I'm sure those of you who loved mathematics in high school know what I am talking about. You can know how to regurgitate information from a blackboard, and then there's actually knowing mathematics. How can I show the university that I 'speak' mathematics?

Regards.

Most universities in USA require high score on ACT or SAT, to be competative in good universities you will need very high score. Check with the university you wish to apply.

You need to achieve good results on ACT and SAT - that's my only advice
