    L'H˘pital's rule stolen?

Is it true that L'hopital stole his famous rule from his tutor Johann Bernoulli?

Stole is perhaps to strong a word.
If you have access of a library that has bound copies of The Mathematics Teacher, this is written about at length in the April 1963 issue pp257-60.

For a summery of that piece can be found on page 207 of In Mathematical Circles by Howard Eves.

I asked a simple question, why are you pointing me to books? Or maybe I didn't quite get you?

He is pointing you to an article which might elaborate this issue much better than he can. Unfortunately many of these issues are not as simple as "yes he stole it" or "no he didn't".

Why are you being such a smart a**?
The point is, there is no simple answer to your question. In fact, it is a long and complicated story that takes place over many years.

Well then I didn't get what you meant in the first time.
You could say that it's complicated and there isn't a short answer to my question.
Calling me a "smart a**" is rude.

    Hello, klik11!

    I asked a simple question.
Why are you pointing me to books?

    Here's a simple answer . . . Yes.

If you are not going to verify my claim
    . . (by maybe ... um ... reading a book),
. . you must take my word for it.
