    To which age group are you giving these questions?I think it should be to children of 9-11 age group.And in that case these questions are mixture of both easy and tough.

    Re: Basic maths test Advice

    Hi Ignite. the age i am appealing two are 7-9
    I am trying to get them interested in maths, and show them that there is a variety of ways to get the answers. However they dont seem to grasp this.
    I am also trying to get there parents to join this forum for them , and hopefully go through a tutorial on the forum.

    I know this is cheeky asking. But is it possible if you could answer these and show your working out. Just so i can prove these children wrong

    1)Express 2/5 as percentage:
    \frac{2}{5}=\frac{2*100}{5}\%=40\%

    2)John has received a 5% pay rise. What will be his new salary if his salary was 10,000 before the pay rise?
    Increase in Salary=10,000*(5/100)=500
    New Salary=10,500

    3)If 36 is 20%, what value is 100%?
    36=x*\frac{20}{100}\Rightarrow x=180 \Rightarrow x * \frac{100}{100} = 180

    4)85 x 12 =
    85 x 12 =1020

    5)350 x 1.5 =
    350 x 1.5 =525

    a)146 is greater than 12
    12 = 144 <146

    Hence,False
    c)101 x 11 = 1011
    101 x 11 = 1111
    Hence,False

    7)13 + 92 + 15 =
    13 + 92 + 15 =120

    8)145 + 92 + 15 =
    145 + 92 + 15 =252

    9)248 4 =
    248 4 =62

    10)2747 - 138 =
    2747 - 138 = 2609

    11)13425+2344551+24231+4232230=6614437

    12)There will be a 3% discount on the price of a car currently priced at 12,500. What is the new sale price?

    Re: Basic maths test Advice

    Thank you very much ingite. I am glad these forum exists. as i can show my students that there is different ways to work out sums.

    Rando mquestion are you any good at excel ? As i have also designed an excel test aswell for them, it is a timed 10min test. and hopefully with this excel test and maths test, we can determine what area we cna focus on the student.

    I have tried it on some teachers, and they think its okay, but i thought its better to ask someone else just to make sure
