Good universities for engineering math studies?

    Hi!

I've studied engineering mathematics since fall and been thinking about studying abroad for a year (or for the whole the master). So I wonder, what universities are concidered good in mathematics / engineering mathematics? My university only offers exchange-programmas with universities they have agreements with, so I'd like to investigate the possibility of fixing this myself.

Grades in my country are U-3-4-5. What kind or grading-system do you use for this purpose in UK/US? And how high GPA is needed for prestigious / semi-prestigious universities? Is there something else, like some kind of "math-SAT" that would add value to an application?

All counties are of interest as long as the education is in english!

    Thanks alot for your reply!

Sounds cool! I believe my University has got an exchange programma with the University in Melbourne. From what I understand its a good school and Australia seems to be a great country for future work (right?). What's the school good at (the math-dep), does it matter at master-level?

Well for one thing, RMIT University is the only university in Melbourne that has degrees in mathematics or statistics or operations research - everywhere else you need to do maths as part of science or engineering. That is why I chose RMIT to do my Bachelors degree. So that means that the maths staff is very specialised and really know their stuff. If you want more information, I suggest you go to the RMIT website.
