Why does getting a tutor help, aside from better explinations?
I've noticed (in multiple subjects) whenever I begin seeing a tutor I begin receiving better grades. This is not necessarily because the tutor explains anything clearer. Does anyone else experience this or know why it happens? It seems to be something psychological.

It's probably because the tutor being there to give you immediate feedback gives you more confidence when you are getting things right.

When you receive one-on-one attention, the teacher/tutor can better assess your needs and cater their instruction to meet those needs.

More time spent immersed in the material and once you make a mistake it can instantly be corrected.

In football (soccer for our US friends) when a team sacks a manager and appoints a new one, team performance usually improves. Which is what one would expect on purely statistical grounds. A manager is sacked after a run of poor results, which will be worse that the teams expected performance because of the selection effect of looking just as the manager is sacked. When the new manager takes over performance will witness a reversion to the mean and so apparently improve.

In US football, we sack quarterbacks, not managers!
