But, I agree. I don't take notes, I usually just listen because of exactly what you said--notes are watered down books....the important stuff is the stuff they don't write.

That was the problem she didn't explain any concepts and only did the work. I knew I wouldn't remember it so I wrote notes and tried not to regurgitate exactly what she was doing.

You don't take any notes at all? Not even in math class? How can you remember examples? I'd say examples are what take up most note taking time.

I don't want to sound like one of those I'm-Gauss-I-don't-need-classes kind of guys.... it's just my learning style is not well-suited to classes. To be honest with you, I mostly go to classes to put up appearances (more important than you may thing by the way)--I don't really learn from them. I learn mostly from reading books, introspection, and proving the theorems myself. That's not to say that classes are important. I know plenty of super-smart people who have the opposite learning style of mine (mostly class work, less individual work), whatever works for you--just need to figure out what precisely that is.
