    Four digit number problem?

    Q) In a four digit number,The sum of the digits in the thousands,hundreds and tens is equal to 14 and the sum of the digit in units,tens and hundred is equal to 15.Among all the numbers satisfying these condition.find the number the sum of the squares of whose digit is greatest?

    Begin by noting that there are only a handful of possibilities for

    n_1+n_2+n_3=14

    And likewise

    n_2+n_3+n_4=15

    once you have your lists, you must determine if and how they overlap. This gives you the possible combinations.

    The squaring is easy.
