Word Problem
Ok, I need help on this word problem.

Nestor travels a lot for his business. Places like New York and Chicago.
The Fare for chicago is \$1.50 + 25 cents per 1/10 of a mile. And the taxi fare for new york is \$1.90 per ride x \$1.60 per mile. Nestor says that when going from the airport to the hotel in both cities was the same amount of money But in the new york he made a \$12.20 tip. What were the amount of miles traveled from the airport to the hotels in both cities. (It has to be the same)

Let the unknown distance be x (in miles) , then we have the taxi cost in C is:

1.50 + 2.5x

and in NY

1.90 + 1.60x + 12.20

these are equal so:

1.50 + 2.5x = 1.90 + 1.60x + 12.20

or:

0.9 x = 12.6,

which gives x=14 miles.
