$\displaystyle A=x^2$

Area is generally: $\displaystyle A=l \cdot w$. But since you know its a square its $\displaystyle A=(w \cdot w)$ or $\displaystyle A=(l \cdot l)$, whichever you prefer. Then you put the numbers you know in the equation.

$\displaystyle 400=x^2$ then remove the ^2, which is called "squared" for a reason. Square root..

$\displaystyle \sqrt{400}=x$ I'm sure you can do the rest.
