    Axis (Tip)

I don't know if I've recalled this from something thats been said to me by somebody else, and it may of already been thought of. But yesterday I was sitting in maths (I'm 15) and my teacher said "remember, the x axis is the one that goes across" because a lot of people in my class forget what is what. So I thought.

    X, is a cross
    A cross/across

This is not always true. eg. You might have to draw a graph of x = 3t +1, in which case the x-axis is the vertical axis.

It's only true for the xy-plane.
