I converted this to US tons per acre by multiplying 15.38 by 1.102 and dividing the answer by 2.471..... the result was 6.86 US tons per acre.
I then did an exercise to check my conversions....
I started with 131 Acres and wanted to calc the T/ac and t/ha.
SO
I multiplied 131 by 6.86 and got 898.34 T/ac The units here are not tons per acre, but just tons (you have already multiplied by the acreage).
I then multiplied 898.34 by 2.471 and divided the answer by 1.102 to get 2014.33 t/ha So you should not multiply by 2.471. Just divide by 1.102 to get the answer in metric tons (not t/ha).
I wanted to check this result versus if I had started the problem with hectares.
so I converted the original 131 acres to hectares by dividing it by 2.471 to get 53.01.
I then multiplied this 53.01 by 15.38 and got 815.19 t/ha. Again, this is metric tons, not t/ha.
I then multiplied 815.19 by 1.102 and divided the answer by 2.471 to get 363.55 T/ac. So you should not divide by 2.471.
Why are the results different?
What am I doing wrong?
Shouldn't the results from the different methods be the same?
Thanks
