1. Converting Meters to Feet

Hi,

Can someone help me with this? I need to know how to convert meters to feet. I don't want a conversion tool, i need to know how to do it for a physics course.

I know that 1 foot equals 0.3048 meters, but i don't know how to do it the other way round, say, how many feet are in 3 meters?

Thanks,

James.

1ft = 0.3048m

You want to find out what 1 metre is in feet. So divide both sides by 0.3048:

1m = 1ft/(0.3048) = 3.28ft

And to find out what 3m is in feet, multiply both sides by 3.

3m = 3(3.28ft) = 9.84ft

3. Hi,

Thanks , that was a pretty quick reply!

I must be doing it right because i'm getting the right answers, but what do you mean by "both sides"?

Cheers,

James.

Both sides of the equation. Both sides of the equals sign.
