If a wheel rolls exactly 5 revolutions while rolling 80pi feet, what is the diameter of the wheel?
I think the answer is .64, but I want to make sure I'm doing it right, or see how to do it if I'm wrong.
If a wheel rolls without slipping its center will move the same distance as the circumference has traced out. Since C = (pi)d if we know that the wheel has rolled 5 revolutions it has rolled 5*C = 5(pi)d = 80(pi) ft.
