Use grouping symbols to clarify your post. I assume you mean this:

$1-\frac{2}{x}=\frac{2}{x+2}$

$x(x+2)-2(x+2)=2x$

$x^2+2x-2x-4=2x$

$x^2-2x-4=0$

Use the quadratic formula to solve when in this form: $ax^2+bx+c=0$ .

$x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}$
