1. ## calculator problem

So my calculator and I are at war on this last problem of my online homework, and I'm trying to get it to solve a present value equation, though, it keeps telling me "OVERFLOW Error"...

Here is the Problem:

Here's what I put in my calculator:
2000(1+(.04/365)^-365(3.5)

Dont take this the wrong way, but are you sure you put your brackets in the correct position?
2000 * ( 1 + (0.04/365) )^(-365*3.5)
As opposed to what I read being
2000 * (1 + (0.04/365) ^(-365*3*5) )

3. Hello, Lariat!

You're probably entering the problem incorrectly.
. . The calculator is trying to find the answer you asked for . . .

Here's what I put in my calculator: .2000(1+(.04/365)^-365(3.5)
. .
You're missing some parentheses.

This is what you entered: . $2000 \times \bigg(1 + \left(\tfrac{0.04}{365}\right)^{-365} \times 3.5$

We want: . $2000\left(1 + \tfrac{0.04}{365}\right)^{[-365(3.5)]}$
. . enter: . $2000\;\boxed{\times}\;\boxed{(}\;1\;\boxed{+}\;0.0 4\;\boxed{\div}\;365\;\boxed{)}\;\boxed{\wedge}\;\ boxed{(}\;\boxed{(-)}\;365\;\boxed{\times}\;3.5\;\boxed{)}$
