Thread: Modelling Question

hey everyone, new to the forum here...

I am interested in modelling a function. I have the collected data and im looking for a function with a high level of accuracy. I am already using Excel's trend lines and the r squared but im not really happy with my results. I was wondering if any of you guys knows a software where giving the data it calculates a pretty decent function?

You can probably do what you want to do in Excel with the solver, goal seek andd/or advanced statistics add-in functions, but you'll first have to figure out (1) what model you want to use, and if applicable (3) how many parameters to use in the model. For example, you can probably get a perfect fit using multilinear regression with the same number of parameters as data points, but it loses its predictiveness.
