    simple Physics

    Theres a car accident.
    Skid marks are as long as 290.0 m were left by the car as it decelerated to a complete stop.
    The police report cited the speed of the car before braking to be "in excess of 161 km/h".
    Suppose it took 10.0 seconds for the car to stop.

    Estimate the speed of the car before the brakes were applied.

    (answer should read "speed in excess of...")

    I know the equation, but im having a hard time naming the variables.
    The equation is

    t = (2*distance)/(final velocity + Initial velocity)

    Please help!

    t = 2 * d / (f + i)
    d = 290m
    f = 0 (car stopped!)
    t = 10 s

    Find i.
