    Factors

Hello, I need help in factorizing this expression please:
    44y^2-22y-22

^2 is my symbol for squared.
I do not understand how the answer is:

    1/44(y-1)(y+1/2)

    Thankyou,
    KateB

Neither do I. That's because the given answer is wrong.

    44y^2 - 22y - 22 = 22 (2y^2 - y - 1) = 22(2y + 1)(y - 1) = 44 \left(y + \frac{1}{2}\right)(y - 1).
