    Wavelengths

    The wavelength of a water wave is 8.0m and its speed is 2.0 m/s. how many waves will pass a fixed point in 1 minute?

    first we can find the frequency.

    frequency = (speed)/(wavelength)

    this gives the number of waves that pass a fixed point per second.

    once you have that, how would you find the number of waves that pass a fixed point in a minute?

    "The wavelength of a water wave is 8.0m and its speed is 2.0 m/s."

    So per wavelength,
    (8.0m/wavelength) / (2.0m/sec) = 4sec per wavelength.

    "...how many waves will pass a fixed point in 1 minute?"
    1 minute has 60 seconds,so,
    (60sec) / (4sec per wavelength) = 15 wavelengths -----answer.
