1. Largest sum

What's the largest sum of money --- all in coins and no silver dollars ---
that you could have in your pocket without being able to give change
for a dollar, a half-dollar, a quarter, a dime, or a nickel?
Answer: $1.19 Uh, how exactly? How would you get$1.19 . . . you would have to have pennies in there (which means you wouldn't be able to make change for the other coins, but then the largest could be $39293392.03 [or higher]) . Anyone? 2. Cannot change a nickel......so maximum of 4 pennies.
Cannot change a dime........so no need for a nickel.
Cannot change a quarter....so need to have at least 2 dimes.
Cannot change a half-dollar......so need a quarter and another 2 dimes.
Cannot change a dollar.....so need a half dollar.

4 pennies = $0.04 4 dimes =$0.40
1 quarter = $0.25 1 half-dollar =$0.50
----------------------
Total = $1.19 Note; 4@1c +2@5c +1@10c +1@25c +1@50C =$0.99 will not change a nickel, a dime, a quarter, a half-dollar nor a dollar too. But it is only $0.99 4@1c +3@10c +1@25c +1@50c =$1.09 will not change a nickel, a dime, a quarter, a half-dollar, nor a dollar also. But it is only $1.09.$1.19 is more than $0.99 or$1.09.
