    Volume of titanium

    What is the volume (in cubic inches) of 3.1 lb of titanium?
    given: density of titanium is 4.51 g/cm^3
    d=m/V
    i need help setting this up.

    lb? Are you serious? Trick question, perhaps?

    Do you mean 1.41 kg or shall we leave the answer up to gravity?

    Well, that's weird. How big is one atom of titanium? Better yet, it may be sitting around somehwere if you look up the mass of one mole of titanium.

    Without too much trouble, I found this:

    The molar mass of TiO2 ( ~79.86 g)

    That must lead us somewhere.

    molar mass ???, all you need is to ratio of grams in a pound

    1 = x grams / pound

    3.1 lb * x grams / pound = 3.1x grams of titanium

    divide by densitivy of titanium to give u cm^3 and then convert again to cubic inches
