    math help

    Martin scored the following number of points in his basketball games so far this season:20,29,20,24,17,20,17, and 13. Find the mean, median, and the mode. Round to the nearest tenth, if necessary.

    do you know the definition for mean, median and mode? if you do, you should not really be having problems with these. where are you stuck? if not, you should look them up, it shouldn't be too hard

    mean is average = 20+29+20+24+17+20+17+13/8 = 20

    mode is most = 20

    median is middle derived from numerical order = 20

    Mean is the average of all the numbers. Find this by adding them up, and dividing their total by the amount of numbers that were added.

    The mode is the number that appears most often. So the mode in the set of 5,5,2,3 would be 5. There can also be two modes. For instance, in the set of 2,3,3,5,5,1 the mode will be 3 and 5.

    The median is the number that appears in the middle of the set. For example in the set 1,2,3, the median is 2. Remember, you must first list the numbers that you are given from smallest to largest before attempting to find the median. For example in the set, 3,5,7,4,1, the median would not be 7. You have to place them in order, 1,3,4,5,7 and the median is 4. If you come across an example such as 1,2,3,4, and there is no one middle number, you have to add the two middle numbers and divide by two. So, the median of that set would be 2+3=5 5/2=2.5.

    first arrange it in a order
    20,29,20,24,17,20,17,13

    13,17,17,20,20,20,24,29

    Mean =sum of the values / number of data
    = (13+17+17+20+20+20+24+29)/8
    =160/8
    Mean = 20
    ----------
    Mode = Mode is the value that has the highest frequency in a group of data.So,Here the mode is 20
    Mode = 20
    ----------
    Median = Median is the value that is exactly in the middle of a group of data arranged in ascending order, i.e.from lowest to highest
    Here there are two numbers in the middle so add the numbers and divide it by 2
    Median = (20+20)/2 = 40 / 2 =20
    Median = 20
    -------------
