    range and median

    I need to know what range and median is? The question is to find the range and median of 5,8,9,15,16,17.

    The median is like an average, or a measure of central tendancy. You can find it by arranging the numbers in increasing order. If the number of terms is even, like in your case, the median is half way between the two middle numbers. If the number of terms is odd, the median is the middle number.

    The range is a measure of spread. You find it by taking away the smallest value from the largest value.

    Maybe if you try that out, and post your answers here we can check it for you.
