    Question help on graphing problem for calculus summer assgn.

    Determine a value for k so that the point (1,k) is the same distance from the line x=-2 as it is from the point (2,0)

    The distance from the point to the line is 3.
    The distance between the two points is \sqrt{1+k^2}.
    So, you have to solve the equation \sqrt{1+k^2}=3.
