(Thinking)can i choose the others....

like the dragons..lol - May 5th 2008, 05:11 AMjanvdl
I was bored so i put the current data in tables and made a graph for you :D

Thank you all for your answers. Although some of you got a bit carried away with your answers, it made for some fun reading. I like pandas the best. No wait, I mean dogs (golden retrievers). Cats are OK as long as they don’t “hiss” at me for no apparent reason. I do hiss back! Fish and turtles are nice too, but I prefer the penguin over them...

The choices that were not on the list were: cows – (I think they’re cool); Mexicans– ( I love them, one in particular); Long walks at the beach, purple sunsets and fresh flowers – (I run at the beach every morning, good for the soul); a good blanket in the winter time – (add a big cup of hot chocolate with oversized marshmallows and I’m set!); Bears and tarantulas– (the closest I’d get to either one of them is by watching them in the Discovery Channel); Dragons– ( I like Mushu from Mulan :P ) Anyway, thanks to all that responded, you helped out big time.

If you must know “Hercules”..., this was part of an assigned “Frequency” math problem. I’m sure you’refamiliar with those.(Wink) Since this happens to be a math problem, I thought that the mathhelpforum was a great place to ask this question. Nothing fishy about it, but thanks for pointing it out. Oh yes, I am a newbie by the way!

“Janvdl” - Thank you for the graph! Very useful. I’m glad you picked up on the fact that this was a math problem. - May 6th 2008, 06:11 AMjanvdl

[quote=janvdl;141553]You are welcome ;)

( This is actually a problem on descriptive statistics :D )[/quote

Well..., I did not know you were going to get all technical on me. But, isn’t statistics a**math**ematical science? (Happy) Thanks again "janvdl" and have a fun mathematical day!(Rock) - May 6th 2008, 11:58 AMjanvdl

I do not know exactly what Statistics is about but it seems to be science not math. It does use math but it does not have any mathematical foundations to it. I know that Propability Theory does have mathematical foundations to it, I do not know about Statistics.

Like you said TPH, it does use math. Depends on what course you're doing though. If you're doing mathematical statistics like I am then you use a lot more formulas and you prove them too.

You also get normal statistics, where you just read data off a graph after you've drawn it, instead of calculating it like my course demands. - May 6th 2008, 06:47 PMcchyfly
I like the dogs....

I think we "all" got a little carried away. The nature of the problem was not serious so you got to forgive that the range of solutions extended the choice set you provided us with. Glad to hear that you enjoyed the reading. Good to have another person with good sense of humor join this forum. This forum is full of some of the smartest people I know. They are very helpful too.

By the way....you should get that eye checked ...it's blinking too much. - May 7th 2008, 04:30 AMjanvdl
