    Angular Speed of a wheel

    1) A wheel is 5.4 feet in diameter and rotates at 1700 rpm.
    A.) what is the angular speed of the wheel
    B.) How fast is a point on the circumference of the wheel traveling in feet per minute? In miles per hour?

    Without knowing what units you need for A. I will convert it to radians per min

    \frac{1700 \mbox{ rotations}}{min} \frac{2\pi \mbox{rad}}{rotation}=\frac{3400 \pi \mbox{rad}}{min}

    for part B. v=r \omega

    so

    v=(2.7ft)\frac{3400 \pi}{min}=\frac{9180 \pi \mbox{ft}}{min} \approx 28839 \frac{ft}{min}
