An airplane travels 2100 km at a speed of 800 km/h, and then encounters a tailwind that boosts its speed to 1000 km/h for the next 1800 km. What was the total time for the trip? What was the average speed of the plane for this trip?

Total Time?

(2100 km)/ (800 km/h) = 2.62

(1800 km)/ (1000 km/h) = 1.8

2.62+1.8= 4.42 (4 hours 42 Minutes)

What was the average speed?

AS = (Total Distance)/(Elapsed time)

AS = (2100+1800)/ (4.42)

AS = (3900)/(4.42)

Average Speed = 882.35
