Find the magnitude and the direction of the resultant of each of the following systems of forces.

a) forces of 3 N and 8 N acting at an angle of 60° to each other


My questions are:

Did I label the diagram correctly according to the homework question above?
Is the 60° between the 3 N and 8 N as shown in the diagram?
Is the θ I am trying to find in the correct place or is it between the resultant and force of 3 N?

Is the 60° between the 3 N and 8 N as shown in the diagram? Mr F says: No. The angle where you have the 60 degrees is actually 120 degrees. The angle between two vectors is the angle between them when they are joined tailed-to-tail. So the 60 should actually be 'on the other side' of where you currently have it.


Is the θ I am trying to find in the correct place or is it between the resultant and force of 3 N?

You red resultant vector is in the correct place, however.
