    Unhappy Missing number in a pattern

    Hello there,

    My nine yo son has a little pattern problem that I was not able to solve. Hopefully you can help me..

    What is the missing number?

    (2 , 18) (3 , 12) (4 , 9) (6 , ?)

    a. 8
    b. 7
    c. 6
    d. 5

    This sort of question has an infinite number of possible solutions.

    At your son's level though it is probably a quite simple one. You might want to consider what you get when you multiply the two numbers in each set of brackets.
